The ‘race that stops the nation’ might not have been born on the Gold Coast, but we’ve certainly adopted it as our own premiere racing event!

‘Gallop’ into the Gold Coast Turf Club on 6th November to celebrate the big day and you can enjoy a flutter at ‘Aquis Park’ - the only place on the Gold Coast where you can watch live, on-track racing. You can also luncheon at one of the many function rooms, where the Cup will be televised live on the big screens. General admission starts from only $20 and food & beverage packages start from $180. Tickets are limited and selling fast. Visit www.gctc.com.au to book now.

The Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre’s (GCCEC) Cup luncheon will be hosted by former High Five-r turned local radio celebrity, Charli Robinson and partnered with Robina Town Centre, the Gold Coast Hospital Foundation and Moet & Chandon. You’ll need to ‘race in’ to get your tickets – which start from $149 and include champagne on arrival, four course lunch, beverage package, fashion parades, live entertainment and race sweeps - before they sell out! Visit www.gccec.com.au to book now.

QUIET PERIOD PROMOTION - ALL QUIET ON THE NOVEMBER FRONT

Despite being part of the school holidays, essentially summer and so close to Christmas, you might be surprised to learn that, during the period from mid-November to 26th December, the Gold Coast actually experiences a lull in tourism. With lower occupancy rates and tariffs to match, you can easily snap up a great value accommodation package at Markham Court, as well as a welcome, ‘calm before the storm’ breather before the hectic, peak holiday period commences. This is also a great time to relax and enjoy pristine beach weather (without the crowds) and grab some last minute Christmas deals at our local shops. Visit www.markhamcourt.com to check out our latest specials and BOOK NOW!

NOVEMBER FESTIVALS - THE GC SURE CAN-CAN HOST A GREAT FESTIVAL!

Say ‘au revoir’ to boring weekends and ‘bonjour’ to the Gold Coast’s biggest French festival! Back by popular demand, the Bonjour French Festival is now in its fifth year and will be held at Kurrawa Park in Broadbeach on 10th and 11th November from 12pm. You’ll love eating your way through the French market, sampling wines at the cellar door and taking master-classes in cheese, wine, champagne and art appreciation. Proud holders of the Guinness World Record for the most berets worn in one place, event organisers invite you to don your beret on the Sunday and be part of a new world record! There will also be a host of cabaret, blues, hip hop and operatic performances throughout the festival; as well as a selection of French film classics screened from 8pm in the park on the Friday night, courtesy of the Gold Coast Film Festival. For more information visit www.bonjourfrenchfestival.com.au. C'est magnifique!

Trouble brewing? Have no fear – the Crafted Beer and Cider Festival has got you covered! Head to Kurrawa Park in Broadbeach on Saturday 6th October from 12 to 8.30pm and sample over 150 brews from top local and interstate breweries, as well as delicious eats from the finest local food trucks. Not a beer drinker? No problem. A wide range of wines, spirits and non-alcoholic drinks will also be available. The live music line-up will include Canberra’s tropical funksters, Young Monks; local pop goddess, San Mei; Sydney's punk pop-etts, Rackett; and Brisbane’s electro-pop energizer, Inigo. Tickets are only $32 and available online at www.craftedfestival.com.au. This is strictly an 18+, cashless event. You’ll need to pre-purchase a Crafted Cash wristband, load your nominated spending amount and simply tap and go at any festival stand. Don’t worry, all exhibitors can check your available balance and you can recharge or refund unused funds online. Now that’s something to get ‘ex-cider-ed’ about!

The nation’s premiere mountain film festival, Radical Reels is coming to the Gold Coast Arts Centre on Wednesday 21st November from 7 to 10pm. Three hours of short, action-packed films will take you out into the wild and to the edge of your seat, with some of the world’s best extreme sports footage. Each film has been short-listed from over 300 entries to the famous Banff Mountain Film Festival. You’ll be left ‘reeling’ after witnessing incredible cinematography, shot from unbelievable vantage points, showcasing the rugged playgrounds of adrenaline junkies from around the world. Tickets start from $25.50 and are available online at www.radicalreels.com.au.
